Joseph HenleIn this installment of 6 pack on ICE we take a hard look into the life of former TUF 11 competitor Joseph Henle, properly nicknamed “Leonidas”. After winning his Maximum Fighting Championship debut against Luke Harris on August 10th, Joseph Henle was awarded a middleweight title fight versus Elvis “The King” Mutapcic at MFC 35 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on October, 26th.

Mutapcic is also coming off a win at the August 10th MFC 34 event against Jacen Flynn and is riding a three fight winning streak. With a little over a month before one of the biggest fights of his career, Joseph Henle opens up about things outside of the ring / cage.

Ice: From teacher to fighter, When and why did you decide to become a fighter?

Leonidas: I was actually in-between jobs when fighting really took a hold and nothing outside of coaching was really pulling me in any certain direction. Fighting really took off in 2009 and so we just kind of kept it running.

Ice: What is your favorite downtime activity?

Leonidas: I like Golf, Bike Riding, Running, nothing crazy but active. Oh and I really like using my Smoker to cook with. I’ve been having a lot of fun with that lately.

Ice: What is your favorite cheat meal, and what is the first thing you like to eat after a fight?

Leonidas: My favorite cheat meal right now would be doughnuts. Huge fan, love them and definitely have some after my fight!

Ice: I have to know, how did you get your AWESOME nickname?

Leonidas: Got it from the TOHS wrestling team that I was coaching in 2007.

Ice: Who wins in a fight Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Power Rangers?

Leonidas: I’m gonna go with Power Rangers. Love me some TMNT but Power Rangers got weapons! Can’t bring a knife to a gun fight!

Ice: Give me three names, who would you like to spar with, fight, and have drinks with?

Leonidas: Spar with I’d say Wanderlei Silva, Fight with I’d go Wanderlei Silva, Have Drinks with I’d go Rento Babalu Sobral. I’m a big fan of these guys I’ve spared with Wanderlei before and rolled with Babalu. It was a huge honor to do both!

So there you have it folks, some hard-hitting questions for Joseph “Leonidas” Henle. Tune into AXS TV on October 26th for MFC 35c and see if Joe can defeat Mutapcic to become the MFC middleweight champion. Please follow Joseph Henle on Twitter and also check out his Facebook page as well.
