If you turned on the TV to Fox say after 6pm PT last night you would’ve caught Chael Sonnen proclaiming the Octagon his own and renaming FOX in his likeness. What you wouldn’t know from his post fight proclamation of awesomeness was that he didn’t simply walk through his opponent; in fact he barely edged out a victory against “The Count” Michael Bisping.

The first official UFC on FOX card has finally arrived and despite a late change to the main card the UFC has put together a very competitive and meaningful card on FOX. The night’s main card will feature three fights on Fox following the seven bout preliminary card that will air on Fuel TX (only six fights will air live on Fuel TV).

By the end of the UFC’s second venture on FOX, two things will most certainly be answered; Who will be next in line for title shot against both Anderson Silva and Jon Jones. In the night’s Main and Co-Main Event, three of the involved fighters will be buying for their chance to fight for Championship gold later on this year with another patiently waiting on the sidelines.

Originally all three main card bouts held title shot implications for the winner, but an injury to Mark Munoz forced him out against Chael Sonnen and moved Michael Bisping up the card. Chris Weidman was then tabbed to replace Bisping, who was scheduled to face Demian Maia to open the main card.

Having learned from the folly of the previous UFC on Fox, we’re treated to three fights this time out on the main broadcast, as well as a packed Fuel TV undercard. The main event is a long time in the making it seems, as Rashad Evans once again tries to grab a title shot, taking on undefeated Phil Davis. On top of light heavyweight title implications, we’re also treated to a number one contender bout between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping as well as another solid matchup with Demien Maia facing Chris Weidman to open the Fox curtain.

The New Year didn’t seem to cure the injury bug that had plagued the UFC during stretches of 2011. Middleweight contender Mark Munoz was scheduled to face Chael Sonnen on January 28th to determine the next challenger to Anderson Silva. Unfortunately an injury has forced him off the card and it will now be Michael Bisping versus Sonnen for a shot at the middleweight title.
