With the Overeem fiasco finally brought to a head, UFC 146 doesn’t have the title fight fans wanted, but it’s a title fight none-the-less. Coming in on short notice, former Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir will step up and take on the seemingly unstoppable Junior Dos Santos as the main event of this all heavyweight PPV.  Heavyweight’s equal big cash for us more often than not and this card will be no exception.

As the current Zuffa roster changes with additions and deletions of fighters, the one time big names (Arlovski, Pulver, Henderson) have gone on to fight for smaller promotions and find success there. Right now there are men under contract who have underperformed or just cannot hang with the world-class level most of the fighters in the UFC bring into the octagon. Instead of subjecting those to a smaller pay for lesser known venues, here are a few examples of fighters that could go to Strikeforce and find success while helping re-build the promotion as its own force.

The fighters of Sundays exciting UFC on Versus 5 events learned of their medical fate today from the Wisconsin’s Department of Safety and Professional Services. 13 of the 24 fighters on the card appeared on the medical report, receiving either a 30-day medical rest period or an indefinite suspension.

A fighter’s nickname sometimes can be helpful or mocking towards their career. Karo Parysian has seemed to lose “Heat” over the years, Chuck Liddell was the one becoming “The Iceman” as he was stiff from knockouts and Diego Sanchez, who knows – “Dirty” always seemed better than the nightmare or dream or vision or whatever he is calling himself this week.
