This past month saw some exciting MMA action and some not so well, but as a whole the month of February produced several meaningful bouts to MMA Rankings. Champions Renan Barao and Eduardo Dantas made successful title defenses this month and Alexander Shlemenko was crowned the new Bellator middleweight champion.
Talk of TRT has been rampant in the MMA world following Vitor Belfort’s fight against Michael Bisping, and with good reason. Coming into the cage is the best shape of his life; Belfort easily dismantled the top-flight Middleweight, severing his ties to consciousness with a head kick in the second round.
UnCut Sports show Rundown – Anthony Pettis was quickly granted his wish to fight featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Dana White confirmed that the two will meet on August 3rd of this year for the UFC Featherweight Championship. So where does this leave Frankie Edgar who has decided that he will not rejoin the ranks of the UFC’s Lightweights.
Last month the MMA Rankings didn’t move much but the last couple weeks have influenced the ranks significantly. This month’s MMA rankings now include the top five-pound for pound fighters as well a slightly new look and feel.
Just days away from Saturday’s fight card, the UFC turned its attention to the April 27th UFC 159 fight card by adding four high-profile bouts. Prior to the flurry of announcements the only bout that was official for UFC 159 was the main event between TUF 17 coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen.
The UFC was back in their second home of Brazil tonight for UFC on FX 7. The event took place inside the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil and feature Brazilian Vitor Belfort against Michael Bisping in the night’s main event. The always ruckus Brazilian crowd cheered on as their fellow countrymen took to the Octagon.
The first UFC event of 2013 will take place in the promotions new favorite spot, as middleweights Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping square off in the UFC on FX 7 main event. The Brazilian Belfort will fight in his home country against the Englishman Bisping, who is trying to finally earn himself a title shot. Their five round non-title main event will take place from inside the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Well the end came for the once #2 MMA promotion this weekend with Saturday’s Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. The event saw a new middleweight champion get crowned, while showcasing several fighters that will now make the switch over to the UFC. Speaking of #2 MMA promotion, Bellator will be making their debut on Spike TV this coming week on a brand new night (Thursday).

Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.

SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
