Although the decision was hers, and hers alone, Cristiane ‘Cyborg‘ Santos’ choice to use steroids to progress her career has left WMMA with an unwanted, and sorely unneeded black eye. The results of her drug test from her December 17th bout has created a whirlwind of press concerning the matter. Just hours after the announcement, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker issued what appeared to be a prepared statement in reference to Santos’ test results.

The next Strikeforce card had been rumored to be on March 3rd but during the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine main card Scott Coker made it official. Coker would re-announce the event date and list the current fight card during the post fight press conference.

Strikeforce Women’s Division Alive, Heavyweight’s not so Much

For months the speculation has been that once the Showtime deal runs out, Strikeforce would cease to exist and many of their stars would join the ranks of the UFC. Furthermore the loss of Strikeforce would also usher in the end to the women’s division as the UFC/Dana White wants nothing to do with it. This Saturday, June 18th, Strikeforce invades the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum (aka Strikeforce: Dallas) features the final two bouts of the Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarterfinals, with the winners moving on to the Semis to face either Antonio Silva or Sergei Kharitonov. After many scheduled bouts had to be taken off the card and fighters shuffled around, the final fight card is set.

Nick Diaz Reigns Supreme Once Again

Another headlining Main Event starring Nick Diaz has come and gone and once again he has walked out of the arena with the championship gold around his waist. His costar for last night’s Main Event fight, Paul Daley, was supposed to be his toughest test and the one that was finally going to dethrone him from the top of the division.
