Charles Krazy Horse Bennett finds fight
Just 5 days after his scheduled fight with Luiz Azeredo (12-8) at Shine Fights 3 was cancelled, Charles Krazy Horse Bennett (22-16-2) has found a replacement. Bennett has been added to the Strikeforce Fedor vs. Werdum fight card on June 26th. His opponent is someone familiar to Bennett as the two fought back in 2007 under the EliteXC banner, KJ Noons (8-2).
In their first meeting the veteran Bennett handed the young Noons his second career MMA lose via a first round knockout. Noons later went onto win the EliteXC Lightweight title and since the lose has gone undefeated in MMA at 4-0. Bennett went onto fight mostly for the King of the Cage promotion and has gone 4-3 in those fights since defeating Noons. Each fighter will be making their Strikeforce debut and the fight is currently listed on appearing on the night main card. A very nice step up for Bennett who was going to be fighting on the undercard of a PPV event that had stiff competition in Strikeforce on Showtime and UFC on free TV.
The addition of Bennett is a nice move be Strikeforce, both fighters individually hold value strong promotional value Noons is a former Champ and Bennett is a fan favorite. Add in the rematch factor of Noons wanting payback for the Knockout defeat and the fight is a nice fit for the main card. A card that will feature the #1 ranked Heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko (32-1, 1NC) against Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist Fabricio Werdum (13-4) for the WAMMA World Heavyweight Championship. Their will also be a “real” title on the line during the night when Cris “Cyborg” Santos (9-1) defends her women’s 145lbs belt against Jan “Cuddles” Finney (8-7).
Strikeforce Fedor vs. Werdum will be held in the promotions hometown of San Jose, California on June 26 on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). The event will be co-promoted as always when Fedor fights by M-1 Global.
