Stephen Bass TUF 14 Episode 3 Blog: Fame can be Tiring!

| October 6, 2011 | Reply

Episode 3 kicks off with the recap of the previous featherweight fight between Marcus Brimage and Bryan Caraway before showing training sessions of each team.  During Team Mayhem’s training session, Bisping and his esteemed assistant coaches, Razor Rob, Tiki, and Brady “Stinky Pinky” Fink take the tires off Mayhem’s car and put them in his locker room. That was a definite Win for Team Bisping.  So that makes the official prank score 1-1 with Team Bisping coming back strong from the previous tire incident.

The viewers witnessed Slugfest 2011 for Team Bisping’s training session. I’m still not sure what everyone else was getting so upset about.  I wasn’t getting hit hard by anyone, that’s just not my style, ala Muhsin Corbbrey.  As far as I was concerned, we were just making proper introductions.  And like Bisping said “we’re martial artists, we’re not thugs”.  Well said.

At the house viewers saw Akira literally busting his balls to entertain everyone.  It was ridiculous hearing the poor guy complaining about his back after repeatedly executing “The Far Up North”, an acrobatic move where one jumps as high as he can and then does an atomic butt drop onto the hot tub lid… then slides into the pool.  Quote of the day, “It’s spinal.”  I’m going to try to get him to do a demo video; I’ll post the link next week if I can.  Oh, and the watermelon was my freaking idea! I had him talked into a pineapple but I felt bad and didn’t go thru with it. It’s disappointing to know that there will be plenty of other funny stuff they don’t even show.  We literally had a blast all season, way too much fun for TV.

From there it was on to the fight pick, Bedford vs. Ferg, and some more trash talking, sigh.  This was also the first appearance of the Death leprechaun’s although I’m sure it won’t be the last.   I felt good for Josh going into this match-up after having trained with him; he definitely is a scrappy dude with a lot of skill.  Alas, when all was said and done Bedford was able to use his definitive size advantage to overpower Josh, control him, and gnp (ground and pound) him enough to get a win via decision.  Once again I’ve got to say congrats to both of these guys for putting on an entertaining fight.

Since the premiere things have gotten pretty busy for me, I do a weekly radio spot with Fist-a-Cuff radio on Sunday evenings. The hosts, Anton and Megan, are awesome.  I’ve got new media events planned every week it seems. I have also just started back on my conditioning program so I’m running short on energy these days.  Hint, hint! any energy drink, supplement or any sponsors that are interested in helping to keep me moving forward in my career.  I can promise it’ll be a fun ride to tag along on!

Speaking of tagging along I’ve been tagging along with some awesome guys doing some humanitarian work, aka, people helping people. The AHERO Foundation (America’s Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors) has reminded me what being a good person feels like and for that I thank you.  Special thanks going out to Lee Stuckey, founder and all of the vets that have already given so much. In closing, I challenge you to pick a weekend to donate some time to a charity of your own choosing and see how good it makes you feel.
