Donald Cerrone Continues his Dominance at UFC 137

| October 29, 2011 | Reply

Cowboy up! Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone showed many things tonight in his preliminary bout at UFC 137 against Dennis Siver. Mainly, that he is always ready for anyone and that he is dangerous wherever the bout goes. Rocking Siver with a head kick, strong punches and then getting it to the ground, the Jackson’s MMA star choked out the German kick boxer in the first round.

Besides the fact he is on a five fight win streak, he has done the last two as a fill in for injury laced fighters and is showing no sign to stop, even so much as to request a spot on a December card to continue his streak. With the way his momentum has carried him this far, why not give him his request?

With wins coming as he is showcasing an ever improving overall game, the sky is the limit for this New Mexico resident. Up next for Cerrone needs to be a top five opponent and ideally Gray Maynard fits. “The Bully” will be aggressive and focused to make sure he only has one professional loss on his career; Cerrone is never scared of anyone and will take the fight to anyone and prefers a standup battle if the other man will engage.

The next bout for whomever he faces will be the platform for him to elevate his career and standings within the UFC. As log jammed as the division once was, with a fighter like Cerrone and the ability he takes inside the cage, a championship bout should be possibility by spring or summer 2012 as long as he can keep his record on the winning side.

On the other side of the coin, Donald has requested to drop down to featherweight and avenge his friend Leonard Garcia by fighting Nam Phan and “shutting his mouth”. Cerrone can make the weight and would be a handful for anyone in the division, not just Pham alone. As good as this appears on paper, it would be in his best interest to stay at 155 and make his legacy there.

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
