UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis Medical Suspensions
Coming away from last week’s UFC on FOX: Evans vs. Davis event, the fighters on the card walked away fairly healthy. A total of just eight fighters were given medical suspensions by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, ranging from 30 to 60 days.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed the news today for the event that took place at the United Center in Chicago on Saturday.
Of the eight fighters suspended two were part of the night’s three bout main card, while the rest were from the preliminary card.
Main event fighter Phil Davis, who came up on the losing side of a five-round decision against Rashad Evans was given a 45 day suspension with no contact for the next 30. Also on the main card was Chris Weidman, who despite taking the fight on 11 days notice defeated Demian Maia by unanimous decision was handed a 30 day suspension with no contact for three weeks.
The remaining six fighters, as well as the full list of suspensions can be found below:
Phil Davis: Suspended 45 days, no contact for 30 days
Chris Weidman: Suspended 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Jon-Olav Einemo: Suspended 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Nik Lentz: Suspended 45 days, no contact for 30 days*
George Roop: Suspended 45 days, no contact for 30 days
Joey Beltran: Suspended 60 days, no contact for 45 days
Chris Camozzi: Suspended 30 days, no contact for 21 days
Dustin Jacoby: Suspended 45 days, no contact for 30 days
(*) Surprisingly Nik Lentz was only given a 45 day suspension even though his fight was stopped due to a cut and quickly swelling up eye between rounds. During and immediately following the fight many were speculating that Lentz might’ve had a broken orbital bone.
