Legacy Fighting Championship 10 Recap

| February 25, 2012 | Reply

Last night from the Houston Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas, MMA fans were treated to Legacy Fighting Championship 10. Live on HDNet, LFC put on an action packed night of fights with six televised main card bouts anchored by two former UFC fighters. Both Gerald Harris and Pat Audinwood walked away with victories in their LFC debuts in completely different fashions.

Legacy Fighting Championship 10 Results:

170 lbs.: Alex Morono defeated Rashon Lewis by 1st rd. TKO (4:02)

Both fighters landed the big shot but early on it was Lewis that dropped Morono not once but twice. That didn’t stop Morono from coming forward and as the round neared its end he finally landed a shot that dropped Lewis. Morono didn’t let him recover and poured it on until the referee had seen enough.

  • Morono showed he has the power but needs to work on keeping his hands up and avoiding getting hit more.

135 lbs.: Carson Beebe defeated Tim Snyder by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Beebe dominated this fight, being aggressive to open the round which would open up the takedown. Even though Beebe didn’t finish the fight, Snyder had no answer to the game plan from Beebe so he did over and over again.

  • They wanted to come out and make a statement but what they didn’t inside the cage was less the impressive.

170 lbs.: Chidi Njokuani defeated Jonathan Harris by 1st rd. TKO (1:54)

Harris closed the distance right away to try to take away the reach of Njokuani. That might have taken away the punches and kicks but what it didn’t stop was the knees from Njokuani. Up against the cage, Njokuani landed a big knee to the gut of Harris that crumbled the local fighter and ended the fight with two more punches on the ground.

  • Njokuani looked composed out there and gets back into the win column with his sixth career win.

155 lbs.: Rey Trujillo defeated Munil Adriano by 1st rd. KO (0:24)

Before the two could even break a sweat Trujillo jumped in with a superman punch that landed flush on the jaw of Anriano (who ironically has “Shazam” tattooed on his back) and quickly ended the fight.

  • Trujillo has the most fights under the Legacy Fighting Championship and might become the promotions poster boy with that KO.

Harris gets the win against Davila

185 lbs.: Gerald Harris defeated Eric Davila by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Take away the crowd pleasing slams from Harris and you were left with a controlled top position victory for the former UFC fighter. It was far from pretty but with both fighters taking this bout on one days notice; give them the benefit of the doubt. Davila did make a late push when he rocked Harris later in round three but it was too little too late.

  • Harris showed those awesome slams but was less than impressive otherwise. Tough draw for him on short notice but he won’t be getting a call from the UFC after this performance.

Main Event:

155 lbs.: Pat Audinwood defeated Justin Reiswerg by 3rd rd. Submission (Armbar) (3:33)

Reiswerg twisted his left ankle during the opening round and was limping bad enough on it to have the fight stopped and the doctor look at it. Reiswerg would continue and after getting the ankle wrapped in between rounds one and two looked much better in the second round. With the fight in the balance Audinwood got the fight to the ground in round three and showed his grappling skills when he switched from a standing, piggy back rear naked choke to an armbar attempt. The fight went back to the canvas and Reiswerg defended it well but time wasn’t on his side and Audinwood finally locked on the armbar to end the fight.

  • Audinwood held his own standing with Reiswerg but was impressive on the ground and finished another fight via submission.
