Rampage Jackson gets his wish, times two!

| March 14, 2012 | Reply

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has recently been on a crusade to have himself removed from the UFC roster. Following his loss to Ryan Bader at UFC 144: Japan, Rampage has been publicly voicing his displeasure with the UFC as well as the business practices conducted by ZUFFA, and has verbally professed his desire to leave the flagship MMA organization.

Apparently Jackson still has one fight left on his UFC contract, and the UFC has given Rampage another one of his wishes, for what is to be Jackson’s UFC swan song.

According to UFC Tonight, which airs weekly on FUEL TV, Jackson has reportedly agreed to fight former UFC Light Heavyweight, and Pride Grand Prix champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in his last octagon appearance. This bout serves three purposes for Quinton, in that it gives MMA fans an awesome farewell match-up for Jackson, it provides Rampage with the opportunity to avenge his 2005 loss to Rua at Pride Total Elimination in 2005, and it ultimately gives him his release from an organization that he’s clearly grown weary of fighting for.

Having both former title holders coming off of losses should provide some fireworks inside the Octagon as neither Rua nor Jackson have ever met an opponent that they ever backed down from.
