Bellator 68: Daniel Straus vs. Marlon Sandro Breakdown

Bellator is back today with some very exciting fights at Bellator 68 as the featherweight tournament will come to an end in the night main event. Daniel Straus (19-4) will meet submission specialist Marlon Sandro (22-3) in what may end up being Bellator’s best fight so far this season. Both fighters have a strong set of skills that make this match worth watching to even the most casual MMA fan.

Straus is a wrestling based fighter who has shown a lot of improvement with his striking this season, and has some of the best pace and cardio in all of MMA. He prides himself in winning dominant decisions over tough fighters and fights to win and dominate, and constantly follows through on his game plan. His keys to the fight are to come out fast in the first round and push Sandro back with strikes, then in the following round run a takedown clinic constantly pounding on Sandro till his age and cardio catch up with him.

Sandro is a Nova Uniao black belt in Jiu Jitsu who has had an incredibly violent career in MMA and is feared by many because of it. He has all the tools to submit Straus who may not even be ranked in Jiu Jitsu but has only lost to submission in his first fight ever. Sandro will need to get this fight to the ground and not fight emotional, so he can lock a submission in early. The pace of this fight will be incredible and a submission late seems unlikely. Sandro also has a good amount of stopping power with his strikes but will need to pour it on early and not play the outside game against a good striker and wrestler. Sandro will bring a great fight wanting his crack at the title and some vengeance to be served ice-cold on Pat Curran.

This is going to be an incredibly tough fight for both guys but whatever may happen in this fight is going to be on the Bellator highlight reel for a long time.
