UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II Bold Predictions
The combo weekend of the UFC Fan Expo and UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen 2 is finally here. It’s a weekend that many MMA fans have had circled on their calendars for months and this Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas will be one BIG Mixed Martial Arts party.
The Fan Expo will be held inside the Mariners A&B hall at Mandalay Bay on Friday and Saturday and UFC 148 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday.
UFC 148 has been dubbed the “biggest MMA event of the year” and is headlined by the middleweight championship rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen. These bitter rivals first met back at UFC 117 in the only time inside the Octagon that the Champion has looked vulnerable. For four and a half rounds the challenger dominated but Silva pulled out a late submission to remain champion. Now exactly 23 months later they’ll do it again at UFC 148.
The night’s co-main event will feature a trilogy bout between former UFC light heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin. Their rubber match will also serve as the final fight in the long “Hall of Fame” career for Ortiz, who will retire following the fight. As well as retiring, Ortiz will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame at the UFC Fan Expo just hours before his final fight.
We skipped predictions for UFC 147 for good reason but did go a modest 7-5 for the UFC on FX 4 fight card. Overall the our “Bold Predictions” predictions record stands at 99-74 (58%) heading into UFC 148 and we’ll look to improve that with our predictions below.
