Mike Bronzoulis steps in to face Corey Hill at XFC 19
The August 3rd XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown was originally scheduled to be headlined by welterweights Corey Hill and Jason South. This past week XFC president got word that South withdrew from the fight due to personal reasons and the hunt for a replacement was underway. It didn’t take long though as legacy FC veteran Mike Bronzoulis has been tabbed as Hill’s new opponent at XFC 19.
Hill (5-4) did hesitate in accepting the new opponent and looks to make it two wins in a row in the XFC. Hill made his XFC debut at XFC 15: Tribute against Charlie Rader, earning a submission by brabo choke in the opening round. The TUF 5 participate fought three-time inside the UFC Octagon before a gruesome leg break looked to have ended his fighting career but 13 months later he was back fighting.
Bronzoulis (14-5-1) was scheduled to face Jay Hieron at Legacy Fighting Championship 12 before he withdrew with an injury. Despite the short notice “The Greek” has 10 finishes on his record as well as twice as many fights then Hill, he is always moving forward and should pose a tough test for Hill.
XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown will take place from the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The promotions first venture into Charlotte, North Carolina will be broadcasted live on AXStv starting at 7PM PT / 10PM ET. XFC Fighters Felice Herrig and Nick Newell will also be featured on the card and tickets for XFC 19 can be purchase at the XFC website.
