Legacy FC 14 Spotlight on Jeff “The Executioner” Rexroad
Well known and well liked by Houston MMA fans, former marine and current HPD police officer Jeff Rexroad (5-1) was originally scheduled to fight Jorge Patino at Legacy FC 14. Patino suffered a torn ACL eight days away from the fight and in his place to fight Rexroad is Patino’s teammate, BJJ black belt Lucas Pamenta (8-1). The bout will be for the interim welterweight title and will be three, three-minute rounds instead of five.
All Rexroad’s fights have been under the Legacy FC promotion and he is currently on a four fight win streak. Though Rexroad had a full fight camp for patino he should only have to adjust his game plan slightly for Pamenta. He told TXMMA “He (Pamenta) is similar to Patino in a lot of ways. He’s a very skilled BJJ black belt that doesn’t mind standing and banging it out with people. However, I don’t think he’s as unpredictable as Patino and doesn’t have quite the experience level.” The executioner would love to turn this in to a slobber-knocker but doesn’t seem to be too worried about Pamenta’s BJJ black belt. He also told TXMMA “I think that while he’s a black belt I still match up well against him on the ground. MMA grappling is a lot different from sport BJJ and I’m confident in my ability to control things on the ground”
This is Rexroad’s first shot at the title and he seems to be well prepared for the most important fight of his life. The fight will air live on AXS TV on Friday, September 14 at 9pm (CST). For more info on the rest of the fight and the full Legacy FC 14 fight card, click here.
