CFFC 18 Debuts in Virginia this Weekend
The east coast Mixed Martial Arts promotion Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC) is set to hold their second event outside of Atlantic City and first in the state of Virginia. CFFC 18 will feature ten professional and four amateur MMA bouts in front of 1500 diehard MMA fans at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.
“CFFC is excited to be down in Virginia to showcase the deep talent pool of professional MMA fighters. We have consistently showcased a great number of them in our shows in Atlantic City. They now have the chance to fight in their backyard in front of their own friends, family and fans,” said Robert Haydak, CFFC president.
Headlining the CFFC 18 fight card will be former UFC fighter and Ultimate Fighter contestant Kris McCray (8-3) as he takes on Virginia native Mike Wade (3-2). The two-time All-American wrestler Johnny Curtis (8-2) will face CNY MMA’s Randy Smith (13-12-1) in the night’s co-main event.
McCray was part of The Ultimate Fighter season 11 where he fought a record five times on the show and made it to the finals against Court McGee, losing by second round submission. He’d go 0-3 inside the Octagon and be released but has turned things around since, having gone 3-0 and will look to make it four in a row at CFFC 18.
The event’s first bell will ring at 6:30pm Saturday October 27th at the Richmond International Raceway Complex. This successful fall debut will solidify CFFC’s plans to hold multiple events in Richmond throughout 2013.
