Eric Reynolds looks to “Wrap” up Forant at XFC 24
At XFC 24, fight fans will see the return of Eric “It’s a Wrap” Reynolds, when he takes on rising star Kevin “The Master of Cool” Forant in what could be easily viewed as a number one contender bout for the soon to be crowned new Lightweight Champion. The future of the Lightweight division becomes a lot clearer on June 14, at XFC 24: Collision Course, LIVE on AXS TV from the Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida.
XFC fan favorite Eric Reynolds came one fight short of realizing his dream of a XFC title last December at Night of Champions II, when he suffered a surprise first round submission loss to Nick Newell. Instead of focusing on the disappointing loss, Reynolds did the only thing his heart knows to do…continue fighting. He immediately asked XFC President John Prisco for the opportunity to climb right back in the cage, and start the climb back to the Lightweight Title. Prisco granted the Florida fighter his wish and awarded him a spot on the promotion’s homecoming show, in Tampa, against the tough, up and coming Kevin Forant, a man who has also got his sights set on a future title shot. “Nothing is given to you in the XFC. If Eric wants to be back in the title picture, he’s going to have to earn it. He’s got to get back in the mix by beating these guys that are hungry for his spot and we’re bringing in more and more fighters every month”, said President Prisco.
The 27-year-old Reynolds debuted as a professional in January of 2007 and went a perfect 9-0 to start his pro career. He has competed at the highest level, against the likes of Eddie Alvarez and Jorge Masvidal, taking both late into the third round. Eric’s combination of granite chin and well-balanced arsenal make him a nightmare for opposing coaches to game plan for. Reynolds prides himself on being a finisher, with only 2 of his 16 wins having gone to a judge’s scorecard. In total, he holds an even 7 wins by TKO/KO and 7 wins by submission.
In typical Eric Reynolds fashion, when asked about his upcoming bout with Kevin Forant, Reynolds simply had this to say: “June 14th, Kevin Forant…IT’S A WRAP!”
