From the moment that Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis (8-0) stepped into the UFC spotlight, people took notice immediately. The first thing you notice about him is his physical appearance and his abnormally muscular upper body. The second thing you notice once he’s is his raw athletic ability inside the cage, or I maybe it’s his signature bright pink Vale Tudo shorts. Either way, once you see him in action you understand why his name is “Mr. Wonderful”.
As the judge’s decision was being read for Saturday s UFC 123 main event, even the eventual winner was surprised with what was read by Bruce Buffer. The judge’s scores were 28-29, 29-28 & 29-28 for a split decision in favor of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who upon hearing the scores looked like he had gotten an early Christmas present.
Following the conclusion of UFC 123, Dana White wasted little time in announcing two matchups for the UFC 127 Australian card. Now scheduled for the main event is UFC 123 KO of the Night winner, BJ Penn against Jon Fitch and Fight of the Night winner George Sotiropoulous against Dennis Siver will grace the main portion of the card.
UFC 123 is now in the books and following a solid undercard, the main card did not disappoint. The main card saw two submission finishes, one TKO finish and two decisions (one split & one unanimous).
Tonight UFC 123 undercard consisted of four unaired fights and two fights that could be seen live on Spike. The fights were very entertaining but unfortunately there was one controversial decision between Nik Lentz and Tyson Griffin.
Minutes after Paul Kelly defeated T.J. O’Brien on the undercard of UFC 123 he was called out on twitter. The one calling him out is none other than Gabe Ruediger (17-6), who said this via twitter “Just heard Paul Kelly won. Please Joe Silva, let me fight him next”.
Earlier today the UFC held the weigh-ins for tomorrows UFC 123 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills, Michigan. All fighters made weight today but there were some interesting highlights, plus check out some pictures from the event.
