At last Saturday’s CageSport XV, Kyle Keeney defeated Josh Bennett in the nights main event to become the CageSport MMA Interim Heavyweight Champion at the Emerald Queen in Tacoma,Washington.

Originally the main event was to feature current heavyweight champion Nick Braker defending his title against the No. 1 contender Kenney, but a blood infection last week sidelined the champion, leaving Keeney and Bennett battling it out for the interim crown.

Keeney (12-5) dominated from the start before scoring the victory by rear naked choke 2 minutes, 3 seconds into the second round.

With the victory Keeney will face Braker in a title unification bout.

George Stork defeated Justin Davis in the semi-main event, winning the light heavyweight contest by second-round TKO, while veteran Eddie Blackburn returned to MMA after a four-year hiatus to highlight the undercard with a victory over Justin Gardner, winning by north-south choke in the second round (4:17).

CageSport MMA returns to the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Oct. 1 with CageSport XIV.
