Stungun comes out victorious at UFC 141

Coming off a brutal KO loss to current welterweight contender Carlos Condit, Dun Hyung Kim looked to have gotten himself back to the winning ways by defeating Sean Pierson via unanimous decision at Friday’s UFC 141. Stungun showed off his improving striking, landing most of his punches at will on the Canadian. Pierson, who himself was coming off KO loss to Jake Ellenberger, couldn’t get his strikes to land, falling short on almost all of his counters.
With the opening round coming to a close, both fighters showed off excellent grappling, as Stun Gun landed a nice hip throw, which was reversed immediately as the fighters hit the ground. Pierson ended up on the back of Stun Gun but couldn’t get a finish in before the round ended.
The tables would be turned in the second round as Pierson would find himself on the other end, eating a jumping front kick from Kim, sending Pierson stumbling across the cage. Kim followed up with several strikes, but Pierson was able to hold out until the bell, but was visibly wobbled going back to his corner.
The third round saw much of the same from Kim, landing a single leg off a Pierson strike, working nice guard passes, but Pierson was able to hold out and avoid anything from the Judo black belt.
With the fight ending, the judges all scored the fight in favor of Kim, 30-27, earning him his 6th victory inside the Octagon, while bringing his overall record to 15-1-1 in his professional career. The loss drops Pierson to 11-6 and 1-2 inside the Octagon.
