Mixed Martial Artist Ronda Rousey has had a pretty good year. She won the Strikeforce bantamweight championship in March, successfully defended it in August and then became the first female champion in the UFC earlier this month. As if things couldn’t get better for the undefeated Judoka, she’s been voted as one of the world’s most desirable woman.
The 12th Annual “Top 99 Most Desirable Women” poll on the website AskMen.com, garnered 2.4 million votes and listed Ronda Rousey at the #43 spot, just ahead of Actress Scarlett Johansson (#45). Readers on the popular website were asked to vote based off sex appeal, character, intelligence, talent, sense of humor, professional success as well as achievements in 2012 and potential for 2013. This year the #1 position went to Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, with Mila Kunis, Kate Upton, Rihanna and Emma Stone rounding out the top five.
In 2013 Ronda Rousey (6-0) will make her UFC debut, where she will defend her bantamweight belt against Liz Carmouche in the UFC 157 main event. The historic event will happen on February 23rd in Anaheim, California. Among the current accolades, Rousey became the first American to win an Olympic medal in women judo when she won the Bronze at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Though still young to the sport of MMA, Rousey has become one of the most popular fighters in the sport and being voted as the 43rd most desirable woman only further cements that popularity.
