The UFC is pretty busy this week as they put on their third “Fight for the Troops” event Wednesday with UFC Fight Night 31 and then head to Brazil for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 32. Following a common theme of recent Fight Night events, these two cards are void of any true contender match-ups.
We’ve got a full week of UFC action ahead of us, and we’re kicking it off with a Wednesday Fight For The Troops UFC Fight Night 31 card. I’ve always liked that the UFC takes a stance for this cause, and the former soldiers fighting here always bring an extra bit of fire to the cage on these nights.
Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa was looking to improve to 10-0 in front of the fans in his home state of Washington at last night’s UFC on FOX 8. His opponent was the veteran Jorge Masvidal, who was a serious step up in competition for Chiesa.
The UFC returns to free TV this weekend with UFC on FOX 8: Johnson vs. Moraga in Seattle, Washington. The fight card has seen over a half-dozen changes to it but overall the UFC on FOX 8 card still holds its own amongst past FOX cards.
The first fight of its kind inside the Octagon, Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche did well to represent the female mixed martial artists of the world in their title clash at UFC 157. Defending champion Rousey found herself in trouble right away in this bout, yet using her judo skills and a good bit of patience and grit, she was able to avoid the disaster of a first round submission. Back in control, Rousey turned the tables on her foe, and once again found her trademark armbar before the end of the first round.
The UFC 157 main event delivered, while the co-main event not so much. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche fought a back and forth one round last night that might have ended in a familiar way, but still delivered in every way. Not only did the fight raise the stock of Rousey and women’s MMA in general but for the challenger Carmouche as well.
The historic day is finally here and all the hype and talk leading up to UFC 157 will give way to the action. The first preliminary fight takes place on Facebook at approximately 3:45pm PT / 6:45pm ET before they are completed on FX. The UFC 157 main card which is headlined by the first ever women’s bout inside the UFC Octagon will air on PPV starting at 7pm PT / 10pm ET.
Tomorrow Liz Carmouche will challenge the UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in the UFC 157 main event. Today though she appeared on the Ora TV show “The Daily Rehash” to talk with host Eric Artell about her historic fight and how twitter go her the fight with Rousey.
Bellator 100 Weigh-in Pictures
Last night the fighters for tonight’s Bellator 100 stepped onto the scales with all 24 fighters making weight. The historic 100th event for Bellator takes places tonight from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and features an all welterweight main card on Spike TV.
UFC on FOX 7: Henderson vs. Melendez Weigh-in Pictures
Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale Weigh-in Pictures
Amidst everything else going on, the UFC has themselves a busy day today with the UFC on FX 6 taking place in Australia and The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale weigh-ins. All 24 fighters made weight today for tomorrow’s event that will crown The Ultimate Fighter 16 welterweight winner.
UFC on FUEL TV 4 Weigh-in Results and Photos
SAN JOSE, Cal. – Still recovering from Saturday’s UFC 148, MMAValor.com was inside the HP Pavilion for today’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 weigh-ins. A few of the fighters would need to step onto the scale behind a towel but all 22 fighters on the UFC on FUEL TV 4 fight card made weight.
TUF Live Finale Live Results and Event Pictures
The long grind of the first live version of The Ultimate Fighter ends tonight at the TUF Live Finale in Las Vegas. Featuring 12 of the 16 TUF Live contestants, the 10 bout card will be headlined by an important match-up in the welterweight division between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann.
