UFC on FUEL TV 10: Nogueira vs. Werdum 2 Bold Predictions
The UFC is racking up the frequent flyer miles once again as the promotion returns to Brazil with Saturdays UFC on FUEL TV 10, just three weeks after they left. The card as flown under the radar so to speak due to the event being tied to The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2 reality show. Many MMA fans outside of Brazil haven’t even seen an episode and other didn’t even know it was even on.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 though is on free TV and no know the story lines behind the night’s main and co-main event isn’t going to stop them from watching.
Heavyweights and TUF Brazil 2 coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum will square off in the UFC on FUEL TV 10 main event. Both fighters are coming off a win but neither has fought in a while. Werdum has been out of action nearly a year, while Big Nog last stepped into the Octagon back in October. These two fought each other in PRIDE back in 2006 with Big Nog earning the unanimous decision. What could be a fun grappling match will probably stay standing, which should at least produce some fireworks.
The co-main event will introduce TUF: Brazil 2 finalist William Macario and Leo Santos to the world and crown another member of The Ultimate Fighter winner circle. Macario of Team Nogueira was supposed to face teammate Santiago Ponzinibbio in the finals but a broken hand suffered in the semifinals forced the change to Santos. Ponzinibbio defeated Santos, also from Team Nogueira, in that semifinal round so the UFC decided he would be the one to move into the finals.
The night’s main card will also feature light heavyweights Rafael Cavalcante vs. Thiago Silva, welterweights Jason High vs. Erick Silva and original TUF Brazil alums Daniel Sarafian and Rony Jason.
