The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale Bold Picks
With the final episode of The Ultimate Fighter 18 airing earlier this week it’s now time to crown two winners tonight. David Grant and Chris Holdsworth will battle it out in the men’s final, while Julianna Pena and Jessica Rakoczy will look to became the first-ever women’s Ultimate Fighter winner.
If you’ve watched any of this season of The Ultimate Fighter 18 you’ll know it wasn’t one of the series best. The women though, carried the season and tonight’s final will feature Team Tate’s #1 pick (Pena) against Team Rousey’s last pick (Rakoczy). The men’s bracket was unfortunately the opposite of the women, highlighted by the two fighters overindulging on free food, missing weight and being shown the door off the show. Two fighters did manage to stay on weight though and Team Tate’s #4 pick (Holdsworth) will face Team Rousey’s #4 pick (Grant) in the finals.
Headlining The Ultimate Fighter 18 finale will be two former fighters from season five. Season five winner Nate Diaz will face the man he defeated that season in the semifinals, Gray Maynard. It’s Diaz though that is looking for revenge against Maynard though because the two faced each other again in 2010 with Maynard coming away with a decision win. Both are coming off loses and in the deep lightweight division can ill afford another defeat.
All but one of the fighter on The Ultimate Fighter 18 finale card will air live on FOX Sports 1 tonight with the other bout streaming online to get the fight card started. Earlier this month at UFC 167 I went 8-4 with the predictions that brought the overall year total to 236-114 (67.1). The overall percentage dropped slightly and with only 10 fights on the card the margin for error will be slim.
