Antonio Silva vs. Roy Nelson added to an Already “Heavy” UFC 146 Card

MMA fans knew it would be just a matter of tick tocks before the entire Strikeforce heavyweight competitors would start to migrate to the UFC, following the announcement that Strike force would be doing away with the largest weight class in their organization. So far the heavyweight imports have fared well in their octagon appearances, as they are 4-0 since the latter part of 2011. Former Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem has already made his statement, when he flattened Brock Lesnar at UFC 141, and is now set to challenge Junior Dos Santos for the title at UFC 146.

Lorenzo Fertitta says Mir vs Velasquez, Ortiz vs Griffin in the works

UFC Co-Owner Lorenzo Fertitta announced over Twitter last night two bouts that are currently in the works. According to Fertitta, Frank Mir (16-5) and Cain Velasquez (9-1) are on course to meet one another in the Octagon, while rivals Tito Ortiz (16-10) and Forrest Griffin (18-7) could be heading for their 3rd fight to round out the trilogy.

Pat Barry made quite the statement at the UFC on the FX 1: Guillard vs. Miller under card, as he was yet again matched up against a much larger opponent with a sizable advantage in height, weight, and reach. Standing at 5′-11” puts Barry in this position more often than not, but he always shows the heart of a lion, and a willingness to fight until there’s either nothing left in him, someone taps out, or somebody gets KO’d.

Known as “the baddest man on the planet” to some and a joke wrestler coming to make a fool of himself inside of a cage to others, the legacy Brock Lesnar will be remembered with will be personal to each individual. Many have mixed emotions about the former WWE superstar and former UFC champion, some stating it was hype and a money scheme while others were in his corner to watch him break free of the stigma he wanted to rid himself of. Now with his retirement announced following consecutive and brutal finishes, the NCAA champion should be remembered not how he came to MMA but how he left it and what he did while in its presence.
