With three weeks until Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy in Sacramento, the promotion is starting to put together their next show on November 3rd. Heavyweights Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir now have a date set for the final Heavyweight bout under the Strikeforce banner as they will headline the Oklahoma City card.

Whichever way this is served, it will be a delightful treat indeed.
With no UFC this past weekend all eyes from the Independent MMA Link Club were focused on the second event from the all female promotion Invicta. Streaming live on their website, Invicta FC 2 was a solids event that had the attention of the entire Mixed Martial Arts community. Aside from the Invicta event, news broke this past week of a former UFC heavyweight champion moving from the UFC to Strikeforce for one fight only.
The news of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir moving over to Strikeforce for a fight with Daniel Cormier has shocked the MMA community. Coming off a loss to Junior Dos Santos at UFC 146 that knocked him down the heavyweight pecking order, Mir makes the bold move over to Strikeforce that could vault him right back up to the top.
The last thirty days saw minimal major Mixed Martial Arts action, which conversely reflect the minimal changes to the MMA Fighter Rankings for the month of June. The division that saw the most movement was the heavyweight division as UFC 146 featured an all heavyweight main cad and Strikeforce FINALLY concluded their heavyweight grand prix.
Brock Lesnar was in attendance at UFC 146 this past Saturday night as the UFC put forth it’s biggest foot, hosting a night of PPV Heavyweight action. With Junior Dos Santos, Cain Velasquez and Roy Nelson’s performances Saturday night, it’s insulting to them that the MMA spotlight shines on a professional wrestler whose last significant victory was in 2010. So let’s focus on the some of the guys who battled it out for our enjoyment and leave the enquiries with Lesnar for another day.
