Latest MMA Valor Fighter Rankings for September 2013
Another month has gone by and the MMA fighter rankings were once again shaken up as #1 ranked UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson was defeated by Anthony Pettis at UFC 164. This comes on the heels of Anderson Silva losing his #1 ranking after being defeated by Chris Weidman at UFC 162.
In other UFC 164 action, Tim Means defeated the previously #4 ranked flyweight Louis Gaudinot to earn himself a shot on the ranking at the #5 position. Earlier in the month Travis Browne handed Alistair Overeem his second knockout loss in a row and in doing so Browne also took his #5 spot on the fighter rankings.
The month of September will see UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defend his title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165, giving us yet another chance at a #1 ranked fighter tasting defeat. Also on that card though will be the Interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao making his second title defense against Eddie Wineland. Bellator’s new season will also be in full swing but as of right now there are no ranked fighters in action this month.
