Tim Kennedy vs. Jason Mayhem Miller Part 3 this March

The rubber match is finally going to happen. Tim Kennedy (13-3 MMA, 3-1 SF) will battle Jason “Mayhem” Miller (24-1, 1 NC MMA, 1-1 SF) on Strikeforce’s March 5th event in Columbus, Ohio. The two fighters met in 2003 with Kennedy winning a unanimous decision. In 2007 the two faced each other again with Miller avenging his loss with a unanimous decision of his own. According to sources, the fight is going to happen but is not yet official.

Tim Kennedy will be looking to get back on track after dropping a very close decision to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza last August for the vacant Strikeforce Middleweight Belt. Prior to the title bout loss, the Army Ranger was on a 4 fight win streak and was victorious in 12 of last 13 fights. His only loss in that string of fights was the loss to Miller he suffered in 2007 at the HDNet Fights – Reckless Abandon event.

Miller is entering the cage after a recent destruction on MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba at DREAM 16 this past fall. The Bully Beatdown star only fought twice in 2010, winning both bouts. In November 2009 Miller suffered a decision loss Jiu Jitsu ace and former Strikeforce champ Jake Shields. Additionally, Miller has squared of twice with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in his career. Both times Miller put on impressive performances against Jacare; however he was unable to secure a victory each time, losing the first bout by decision and the second ending in a no contest.

Since their last meeting in 2007 both fighters have grown substantially has MMA fighters and have undergone huge life changes as well. Kennedy has gone 4-1 in the cage and is no longer on Active Duty. Miller’s record since the last meeting is 4-2 with 1 NC and he is a Reality TV star, hosting the popular series Bully Beatdown. These two fighters couldn’t be more different outside the cage, but inside the cage both of these guys are the real deal.
