Duane Ludwig UFC Fan ExpoDuane Ludwig is the best thing to happen to Team Alpha Male since Urijah Faber! The Muay Thai turn mixed martial artist is transitioning from fighter to coach as the head striking coach from the Sacramento, CA based Team Alpha Male. Ludwig has only been at the helm for less than a year, but Team alpha Male hasn’t looked better.

Duane Ludwig took the reigns as the head striking coach of the already very good Team Alpha Male in December of 2012. Fighters like Joseph Benavidez, Chad Mendes, Danny Castillo, TJ Dillashaw and Faber had already earned UFC prior to Ludwig’s arrival. The five had a combined 11-7 record pre-Ludwig but post-Ludwig the fab five have gone undefeated at 12-0. Just the record along is impressive but there is more to the story.

Team Alpha Male was always known for their wrestling, strength and the occasional guillotine submission. The fighters all looked like very similar to their leader Urijah Faber, which obviously wasn’t a bad thing but they were just missing something. That something was Duane Ludwig.

The Team Alpha Males fighters have looked more aggressive on their feet and each seem to have come into their own style under Ludwig. Of the 12 wins, eight of them have been finishes and six of those finishes were via knockout. Ludwig also loves to watch fight video’s and has been formulating solid gameplans with the fighters for their upcoming opponents. Roll it all together and the results are a 112-0 record and the best Team Alpha Male ever!

All that Duane Ludwig has brought to the table has his pupils looking ready and extremely confident. Where Team Alpha Male goes from here is unknown but three of the above five mentioned fighters are standing on the doorsteps of another title shot and with Duane Ludwig at the helm things will be different this time around.

Duane Ludwig has worked magic in the short time as head striking coach and the sky is the limit for him as a coach.
