Latest MMA Valor Fighter Rankings for August 2013

Chris Weidman Fighter RankingsA lapse in judgment and a well-timed punch have altered not only this month’s fighter rankings but the top of the pound for pound ranks as well.

Anderson Silva did his “thing” inside the Octagon and Chris Weidman was the first fighter to make him pay for it. In the UFC 162 main event Chris Weidman shocked the MMA world by knocking out Anderson Silva to become the new UFC middleweight champion. The loss was the first for Silva inside the Octagon and lost him the top spot in the middleweight division as well as the pound for pound rankings.

The middleweight rankings weren’t the only shake ups this month. Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren and lightweight champ Michael Chandler successfully defended their titles this month and thus moved up in the ranks.

Will next month hold another major shakeup in the fighter rankings?

Seven fighters in this month’s fighter rankings will step into the cage in August, including the #1 ranked lightweight Benson Henderson. The UFC champion will face the last man to defeat him, Anthony Pettis in the UFC 164 main event. Their title fight will be a rematch of the WEC lightweight title fight that took place at the final WEC event back in 2010. Pettis will look to follow in the footsteps of Chris Weidman and shakeup the fighter rankings again this month.

As always the goal here is to give you the best Rankings that we can provide you with and of course a spot below for you to disagree and complain. So without further ado here is the latest MMAValor.com MMA fighter Rankings:

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
