Bellator 48 Results: The Summer Series is in the Books

It’s all over, the Bellator summer is all over. Following a successful fourth season, it’s first on MTV2, Bellator introduced its summer series to bridge season four and five. The three-part series concluded tonight with the final for the summer series featherweight tournament.

In the featherweight finals, Pat Curran took on Marlon Sandro and the two delivered the night’s best finish. After an opening round that saw Sandro landing the better strikes, Curran was cut up and losing the fight. Oh how the tide can turn in a fight. In round two Curran used that aggression from Sandro to land a clean kick to the head that laid out Sandro. Beating the referee to the punch, Curran drove in and landed a couple more shots before the fight was made officially over.

Curran can now add his featherweight tournament title to the lightweight tournament title he captured in season two, making him the first fighting to do that.

The rest of the night’s main card saw an upset, a champion showing he is evolving and a lightweight stacking his claim for enter into the next 155 lbs. tournament.
