brianbowles2 Brian Bowles Repeats Previous Win Over Damacio Page

It has been nearly a year since we’ve last seen former WEC Champion Brian Bowles in action. In his UFC debut and return to action, Bowles submitted Damacio Page via Guillotine Choke in a rematch at tonight’s UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann (UFC on Versus 3).

Bowles (9-1) last fought back at WEC 47 when he lost his bantamweight title to current champion Dominick Cruz due to a broken hand. After a long layoff, it wouldn’t be an easy comeback fight against an aggressive striker such as Page (15-6).

As the fight began, Page came out swinging and was attacking with everything in his striking arsenal and Bowles was weathering the storm, but not showing much offense. As the round hit the midway point, the former champion began opening up with some strikes of his own. Bowles then connects with a hard punch and finished it off with a flurry to get Page to the mat. Once on the ground, Bowles quickly transitioned to a Guillotine Choke and put Page to sleep. The official time was 3:30 of the first round, which ironically is an identical ending to their first bout back at WEC 35.

Bowles improves to 9-1 with the impressive win and if he continues to stay healthy he might find himself back fighting for the bantamweight title.
