Legacy Fighting Championship 13 Results

Legacy Fighting Championship 13 took place Friday night in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas Convention Center in front of a packed house.  The main card was broadcast on AXS-TV, and only three fights on the whole card were decided by the judges cage side.

In the main event, it was Jared Rosholt and Derrick Lewis who fought to decide who would take home the vacant heavyweight title. The first round was a virtual wrestling clinic by Jared Rosholt as he put pressure on Lewis from the first bell to the last horn. Lewis showed signs of explosiveness, and was able to escape from a few submission attempts from Rosholt.  The second round seemed to be a repeat  of the first, but with Rosholt in side mount, the ref deemed that there wasn’t enough action and stood them up. Lewis then began to land huge punches on the visibly tired and Rosholt, but Rosholt was able to land a leg kick that seemed to really hurt Lewis. While limping, Lewis came forward again and was able to land a handful of strikes that toppled Rosholt, and the ref jumped in to save him.  After climbing the cage and celebrating his championship, Lewis collapsed to the cage floor, and was attended to by the cage side doctors for a damaged ankle. His teammates had to hold him up to accept the heavyweight title during the announcement, but Legacy Fighting Championship had a new champion.

The co-main event was a back and forth affair between Evan Cutts and Sean Spencer. Cutts had the clear advantage in the grappling department, and took Spencer’s back several times during the match. However, Spencer was able to survive any submission attempts, and when he broke free he was able to land punches in bunches on Cutts, forcing him to shoot in for the takedowns. Spencer came close to finishing the fight at the end of the second round, but Cutts toughed it out and survived to see the third. Cutts was able to get the takedown in the third round, and even had the back of Spencer for at least a minute or so, but Spencer was able to break free and land enough punches to steal the round.
