Jorge Santiago Headlines Titan Fighting Championship 21

Former UFC middleweight and Sengoku Champion Jorge Santiago will make his first appearance back in a cage since being released from the UFC (for the 2^nd time) on March 2^nd. “The Sandman” will be making his Titan Fighting Championship debut against fellow Brazilian Leonardo Pecanha in the main event of TFC 21. The event will take place inside the Memorial Hall, with the main card being televised live on HDNet starting at 6pm PT/9pm ET.

“I can’t wait to fight for Titan on March 2^nd and to show everybody that “The Sandman” is back and more dangerous than ever before,” said Santiago.

Santiago (23-10) earned his second trip to the UFC by winning nine of ten after being released from the promotion the first time in December of 2006. During that time Santiago went 2-0 in Strikeforce and 7-1 with Sengoku, including a submission win over Kazuo Misaki to win the Sengoku middleweight championship. The Brazilian lost both his UFC bouts in his second stint with the promotion and has an overall record of just 1-4 inside the Octagon.

“There is no doubt this is going to be one of Titan’s best events ever, with knockout artist Jorge Santiago and submission specialist Leonardo Pecanha headlining…. Titan Fighting 21 is going to deliver,” said Titan CEO Joe Kelly.

Pecanha (14-7-0) is a second degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is coming off a submission win against Matias Ezequiel Lemon last May. The accomplished grappler has 12 of his 14 wins come via submission and is a 5 time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion.

“There’s isn’t anything that Santiago has over me, I’m better on the ground, and more vicious standing up, so there’s no way I’m letting this fight go to the judges’ scorecards – I’m going to finish him, and fast,” said Pecanha.

Santiago has a long road back into the UFC ahead of him and it all starts March 2^nd against a tough opponent in Pecanha.
