Shark Fights made their second trip to Nevada in less than two months Saturday for Shark Fights 20: Starks vs. Young. In August Shark Fights 18 hit the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada and on Saturday in was the Edgewater Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada.
The Ultimate Fighter season 11 participant, Chris Camozzi, was training for his upcoming main event against Matt Lucas at Shark Fights 20. A phone call from his manager with a new fight offer would change all that for the Colorado native. Instead of fighting in Laughlin, Nevada on October 15th, Camozzi will now fight in Las Vegas on October 29th at UFC 137.
Lost in all the televised MMA action yesterday was the Shark Fights 19 card from the Independence Events Center in Independence, Missouri. The massive 18 included 11 professional bouts along with seven amateur contests. The theme of the night for the professional card was early submissions, as eight of the 11 bouts ended via the tapout within the first two rounds.
At BAMMA 7, Paul Daley misses weight, had the fight moved to a catchweight and ultimately walked out the cage the winner. If the scenario sounds vaguely familiar you are not going crazy, it has happen before. Daley (28-11-2) has in fact done this on four separate occasions now and with today win has now improved to 4-0 at a catchweight.
Tonight, September 10, Shark Fights returns with their nineteenth event live from the Independence Events Center in Independence, Missouri. This card will feature six amateur bouts, seven preliminary bouts and five main card bouts. The co-main event of the evening features UFC-veteran Rob “The Rosedale Reaper” Kimmons (23-8) as he takes on heavy-handed Chuck Parmelee (39-10-1).
