Thiago Silva steps in to face Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on Fuel TV 2

Five and a half weeks before the UFC makes its debut in Sweden, the main event has been switched up due to injury. Sweden’s own Alexander Gustafsson was slated to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira but a knee injury suffered while training has forced “Lil Nog” to withdraw. Replacing the light heavyweight will be the hard-hitting Thiago Silva, who hasn’t fought since January of 2011.

The UFC’s first trip to Sweden will logically be filled with local talent but yesterday the UFC announce the event will also be headlined by a Swede. Rising light heavyweight prospect Alexander Gustafsson will face the veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira UFC on FUEL TV 2. The card will take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden and air live on FUEL TV on Saturday April 14th.

UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida Medical Suspensions

Saturday’s UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida card from Toronto, Canada was a brutal event to say the least. Well the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services backed up those claim by suspending every fighter on the card received at least a 14 days. However seven fighters, including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Tito Ortiz and Mark Hominick received much stiffer suspensions of 60 days following their defeats.

Once again MMA proved that you never know and that anything can happen when you step into the cage. Take tonight’s UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada for example, six of the 12 fights ended in the opening round while another three didn’t make it out of the second round. The fighters for tomorrows UFC 140 all stepped on the scales today in Toronto, Canada in front of a packed house along with everyone watching over the internet. Out of the 24 fighters, only lightweight Dennis Hallman missed weight and coming off his speedo incident at UFC 133 the veteran’s on very thin ice.
