Highlight List of MMA events in the Month of August 2011

Summer is winding down and after a slow month of July in Zuffa land (compared to May) August is packed with three UFC events and one Strikeforce. Contrary to what some might tell you Mixed Martial Arts isn’t just the UFC and Strikeforce. On any given week there are several MMA events taking place in the United States and across the world.

On a two fight Losing Streak, Gabe Ruediger gets title Shot

No that wasn’t a typo you just read, coming off back to back losses in the UFC; Gabe Ruediger will be fighting for a title in his upcoming bout. The Ultimate Fighter season 5 competitor will be headlining the Gladiator Challenge: Full force event being held this Sunday at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California.

Gladiator Challenge: Hostile Results

Last Friday, April 22nd from the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California was Gladiator Challenge: Hostile. The card was filled with 18 fights featuring three Gladiator Challenge championship bouts in the Bantamweight, Featherweight and super fight championship.

The night was filled with exciting action and several fights that ended in the first round, here is how the long night played out. 

Gladiator Challenge Returns with High Octane

California-based Gladiator Challenge returns to the Shingle Springs Rancheria in Placerville, CA this Saturday for what is sure to be another amazing event. “High Octane” will feature three title fights, MMA pioneer Cal Worsham, and Gladiator Challenge fan favorite Jaime Jara.

Big names fill upcoming Tachi Palace card

Tachi Palace Fights in association with Gladiator Challenge present “High Stakes” on Thursday September 9, 2010. The event will take place in Lemoore, California at the Tachi Palace Casino and features a stacked card of notable fighters.

Headlining the card is former WEC light heavyweight champ and local legend Doug Marshall (12-3). He’ll be facing MMA Veteran and TUF 11 fighter Kyacey Uscola (18-15) in a middleweight showdown. The names don’t just stop there, in the nights co-main event is former WEC lightweight champ Rob MCCullough (18-6) vs. former UFC and TUF 5 fighter Corey Hill (4-3).

Tyson Griffin vs Evan Dunham at UFC 115

Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham is set to headline the preliminary card at UFC 115 that will be featured free on Spike TV.

Tyson Griffin has a very impressive MMA record of 14-2 and is coming off a KO win over Hermes Franca at UFC 103. Tyson started his MMA career in 2004 where he fought for Gladiator Challenge based out of California. He had some very impressive fights while there and handed Urijah Faber his first defeat in 2005 where Tyson KO’d Faber in the 3rd round. Tyson won the Lightweight belt in defeating Faber that night but only defended it twice. Tyson also fought once in strike force scoring an impressive TKO in 1st round before receiving many offers from Pride, Strike force and UFC. Tyson decided to take the offer UFC gave him. In 2006 at UFC 63 Tyson made his UFC debut with a submission over David lee, he is currently 7-2 in the UFC. Tyson is considered one of the best 155 lightweights fighters in the world but hasn’t climbed the ladder high enough to get a title shot.
