Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy Predictions
Saturday’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy closes out what has already been a great week of Mixed Martial Arts. It all started with the UFC Fan Expo and UFC 148 in Las Vegas last weekend, moved to San Jose, California for Wednesday’s UFC on FUEL TV 4 and concludes in Portland, Oregon tomorrow.
Not to be out done, Strikeforce will close out this mega week with possibly the best all-around card of this week. Sitting at the top of the card that will be televised on Showtime are two title fights.
Sticking with the theme of the week, Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold will defend his title for the second time against Tim Kennedy. Rockhold and Kennedy have been scheduled to face each other in the past but injuries have put the fight off until now. With the recent events in the Middleweight division the winner between Rockhold and Kennedy should see their stock significantly rise.
The Strikeforce welterweight division has been without a champion since Nick Diaz moved to the UFC but finally a new champion will be crowned on Saturday. Strikeforce veteran Tyron Woodley will get the title shot he’s lobbied long and hard for when he takes on promotional newcomer and UFC veteran, Nate Marquardt. It’s been a long time since Marquardt has fought but ring rust or not he posse’s one of the biggest challenges that Woodley has faced.
Two other middleweight bouts will fill the remaining two main card slots as Roger Gracie will make his 185 pound debut against Keith Jardine and Robbie Lawler will welcome Lorenz Larkin to his new weight class.
The night’s preliminary card will air on Showtime Extreme and features five bouts. Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy will take place from the Rose Garden
After my UFC 148 picks flopped to the tune of 6-5 I was able to turn things around at UFC on FUEL TV 4 going 8-3 to bring my overall record up to 113-82 (58%). There are nine bouts on the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy card for your prediction pleasure.
