ufc106 lesnar carwin 300x166 Team Lesnar or Team Carwin? We are just two weeks away from the long awaited heavyweight fight between UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Interim Champion Shane Carwin. With the title fight being the biggest in history, the team here at MMAValor decided to pick sides. We we’re split down the middle so each side will take an in depth look at their fighters and we make our predictions on how they will win.

Let’s start out with the challenger, interim heavyweight champ Shane Carwin. Prior to his MMA career, Carwin was an NCAA Division II Wrestling Champion. So far, Carwin has fought and won 12 times as a pro, four of those fights have been in the UFC. In his four fights in the UFC, he has won all of them by first round knockout, with a total time of seven minutes and 52 seconds. Throughout his entire career, he has fought just over 14 minutes. Carwin currently trains under the tutelage of Greg Jackson and works with top fighters like Nate Marquardt, Rashad Evans and Brandon Schaub. Similar to Lesnar, Carwin is a freak of nature. He is just as big, fast, and strong and is very hungry for this fight. The power Carwin possesses will test Lesnar’s chin as well. Ring rust will definitely be an issue for Lesnar due to his illness and long lay off. MMAValor’s Team Carwin predicts Shane Carwin will win by KO in the first round.

Now we move onto the champion, Brock Lesnar. The former NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion and WWE Superstar has compiled a professional MMA record of 4-1. Lesnar lost his UFC debut against Frank Mir but avenged that loss back at UFC 100. In all his fights in the UFC, Lesnar has been able to dominate his opponents with his sheer size, power and athleticism. What makes the fight with Carwin interesting is that Lesnar won’t have the same advantages he has had over men in the past. But even with Carwin’s power on his feet being a threat to him, Lesnar will still be able to get the fight to the ground and finish with strikes. Ring rust won’t be an issue either. Even though he hasn’t fought in almost a year, he will be more than ready when it comes time to fight. We will also see a bigger and better Lesnar because of the fact that he is now fully healed and back to 100%, which he wasn’t able to be at in his last few fights. Now that he is back to full health, Lesnar will step into the Octagon on July 3rdready for everything Carwin has to offer. MMAValor’s Team Lesnar predicts Brock Lesnar will win by TKO in the second round.

Well there you have it folks, those are the predictions from all of us here at MMAValor. Whether it’s Team Carwin or Team Lesnar who prevails, it’s sure to be a fight for the ages.

Tell us which team you are in the comments….

I think Brock should take this immediately to the ground for some GNP or push Carwin against cage for some dirty boxing. I think Carwin has the better striking so I don’t see Brock winning the stand up. I don’t know the cardio of Carwin since all the fights have not gone past round 1. We’ve seen Brock go 2-3 rounds so his cardio should be fine.

I’m gonna say Team Brock via GNP round 1.

Lesnar showed in the Couture fight that he can be controlled against the cage and dirty boxed and his chin can be tested and even though he used Randy for training knowledge it has come a little late and Carwin is going to come out the victor in the same fashion he has for his entire career…. #TEAMCARWIN via TKO rd 1
