Marcos Galvao and Luis Nogueira Advance to Bantamweight semifinals at Bellator 65

The second half of the Bellator season six bantamweight quarterfinal round was concluded during tonight’s Bellator 65 event. Live from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey Marcos Galvao, Ed West, Alexis Vila and Luis Nogueira looked to join Travis Marx and Hiroshi Nakamura, who advanced to the semifinals at last week’s Bellator 64.

On the heels on the UFC announcing a middleweight bout between Rich Franklin and Cung Le at UFC 148 the promotion has quickly added two more top matchups. Bantamweights Renan Barao and Jeff Hougland, along with middleweights Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch were added to a quickly forming July fight card.

Following their Bantamweight title fight last July at UFC 132 the two will likely feel a bit of déjà vu when they step back into the Octagon on July 7th at UFC 148 for their third meeting. The rivals will square off in the same exact arena, one year and five days after Cruz evened the score with a unanimous decision victory.

Renan Barao Picks apart Scott Jorgensen for Another win

In his toughest test to date Brazilian bantamweight Renan Barao extended his winning streak to 18 with a unanimous decision win over Scott Jorgensen. Coming into the fight, Jorgensen was a top five bantamweight who had only lost to the champion Dominick Cruz in his last eight bouts. As part of the UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit main card the Nova Uniao member dismantled his opponent with crisp and accurate striking.
