What happens when a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt throws the game plan out the window and attempts to out strike a world class kickboxer? The answer to that question was displayed tonight at UFC Live between Cyrille Diabate (17-7-1) and Steve Cantwell (7-4).
The first UFC card on Versus is now in the books and even with the questionable judge’s decision in the main event, the night was filled with solid fights. The action got started off with two preliminary bouts streaming live on Facebook that both ended via unanimous decisions.
It has been nearly a year since we’ve last seen former WEC Champion Brian Bowles in action. In his UFC debut and return to action, Bowles submitted Damacio Page via Guillotine Choke in a rematch at tonight’s UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann (UFC on Versus 3).
The UFC Live card is well worth its cost especially after the Bisping fiasco we saw last week and it seems to be absolutely stacked from top to bottom with exciting fights. That could be the reason why a top middleweight fighter like Rousimar Palhares and an exciting prospect like David Branch don’t even make the main card.
Coming off of a brutal knock out win against Will Kerr, Danny “Last Call” Castillo (10-3) will be making his UFC debut against UFC veteran Joe “Daddy” Stevenson (31-12) at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann.
Tomorrow, March 3rd, the UFC makes its way to Louisville, Kentucky for its first event in the state. UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann comes to you live from the KFC Yum! Center.
Thursday night the UFC will set up shop in Louisville, Kentucky for UFC on Versus 3. There are some established fighters looking to better their position in the UFC trough.
