UFC Moving PPV start time back to 7pm PT / 10pm ET

UFC

If there is one constant within the MMA community is that change is becoming standard operating procedure. As the sport of MMA grows and evolves it becomes more and more difficult to keep up on all of the developments. MMA has undergone quite the transformation since it’s beginnings in 1993 and as fans who have witnessed the progression from the sport’s inception to present day have seen a radical metamorphosis. Going from essentially no rules, no time limits, and no weight classes to having a standardized system for all of the above, the bottom line is that these changes were necessary for MMA to get where it is today which is the fastest growing sport in the world.

Comparison between UFC and Boxing Pay Per View Buys

Floyd-Mayweather

This weekend will be one of the biggest fights of the year in Las Vegas and will not take place in any type of octagon or cage setting. Undefeated (41-0; 25 KO, 16 Dec) Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. will be defending his WBC welterweight championship against “Vicious” Victor Ortiz (29-2-2; 22 KO) and given the history of the pay per view purchases generated by Mayweather, the argument that boxing is the more lucrative sport with a dedicated following could be echoed if sales are like anything past in comparison to UFC ppv purchases.

In announcement made on Monday, UFC President Dana White has announced that future UFC events and Pay-Per-Views would be available through X-Box Live thanks to a new deal that the promotion reached with Microsoft. The announcement was made at the Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3) during Microsoft’s Press Conference portion of the mega gaming event.

Question of the day: Will UFC 119 break 440k PPV buys?

We are just hours away from UFC 119 going live on pay per view from Indianapolis, Indiana. The fight card is pretty solid with three former UFC champs, but it’s with a title fight. Historically cards without a title fight have a much lower PPV buy rate than those with a title on the line.

UFC on the big screen: Good, Bad or Ugly?

Starting at UFC 111 the company formed a partnership with Fathom Entertainment to test the water of showing Pay Per Views at the movie theater on the big screen. Call it a four event experiment to see how fans react to the whole look, feel and price.

The second event shown on the big screen was UFC 115 which was attended by MMA Valor at a local Theater. This was our first experience watching on the big screen and we went into the theater with only one hope, to see a good show.

Why Fans Need to Support the WEC Tonight

The main Event – Jose Aldo seems to be a natural born killer, just look at him or one of his recent fights for proof. Urijah Faber will be game for a great fight, and he knows how to bring it.  Jose Aldo is 16-1 with 11 wins by tko/ko, 6 of them being his fights in the WEC. Urijah is 23-3 and held the 145 pound championship in the WEC for nearly 3 years. One is fighting is his home town, the other where he feels is a “home away from home”. Urijah Faber had a very impressive fight against a serious top 5 contender and Bjj expert, but finished him in a brutal submission. Jose Aldo seems to destroy everyone on the feet and is coming off a very impressive win over Mike Brown. This fight is a battle of fast technical striking and promises to deliver.
