The Xtreme Fighting Championship was in Knoxville, Tennessee tonight inside the Knoxville Civic Coliseum for XFC 20: High Octane. The seven bout main card aired live on AXS TV and was headlined by a lightweight bout between Eric Reynolds and the veteran Lorenzo Borgomeo. The winner of the main event would earn a shot at the vacant XFC lightweight belt against the undefeated Nick Newell.
With just over a month before XFC 18, the promotion has added a Featured Female bout between Heather Jo Clark and Sofia Bagherdai. The 120 lbs. bout will appear on the night’s main card, which can be seen live on HDNet on June 22nd.
With the talk of what could possibly happen to the women’s division in Strikeforce due to what looks like Strikeforce’s eventual closing, its left everyone wondering if it would mean the end of WMMA in North America with the exception of the occasional fight from Bellator. Enter Invicta FC, where former Strikeforce matchmaker Shannon Knapp decided that an all-female promotion could be exactly what is needed to keep WMMA alive and well.
