Strikeforce Brawl coming back to bite some

Strikeforce Brawl Coming Back To Bite SomeThe shock waves are now being felt from the ridiculous in ring brawl following last months Strikeforce: Nashville main event. If you don’t remember what happen Jason “Mayhem” Miller came into the cage unannounced during the post fight interview with Gus Johnson and Jake Shields. He interrupted Shields talking about his impressive 5 round victory over Dan Henderson to retain the Middleweight belt to demand a rematch. That open up a flood gate of pushing, shoving and kicking not seen since Nick Diaz was brought into the cage during a KJ Noons post fight interview. Surprisingly or maybe not so much is that Nick Diaz and his brother Nate were part of this altercation too.

The first wave hit Mayhem Miller who was set to fight June 16 versus Robbie Lawlor in the nights main event. Strikeforce pulled him from the fight and replaced him with Renato Sobral, thinking that miller will be getting a suspension from the Tennessee Athletic Commission, here is what Scott Coker had to say:

“Miller isn’t fighting because we believe, in speaking with the Tennessee Athletic Commission, that he will put under some type of suspension. After reviewing the tape (of the April 17 incident), we felt that Miller shouldn’t headline our next event. We will honor the Tennessee commission’s decision when it’s announced.”

The second wave splashed on Nick Diaz today as he was denied a spot on the Strikeforce card in San Jose next month. He had requested to be on the fight card to possibly defend his Welterweight title but was turned away for his actions in the brawl. The Stockton native will now miss out on a chance to fight locally as he and the others involved in the brawl await the outcome of the formal investigation opened by the Tennessee Athletic Commission.

It will be interesting to see what happens from the investigation and what if any suspension or fines are laid out.
