There is just over two days now until Saturday’s UFC 149 and as the UFC prepares to debut in Calgary the talk in MMA has still been around the UFC 148 event. As UFC President Dana White accumulates those frequent flyer miles from Las Vegas to Australia and then to Calgary he took the time to set up a great behind the scenes look at the biggest UFC event this year.
This past week’s action has shaken up the ranks of the UFC middleweight division. In the span of just four days, two of the top five middleweights in the world tasted defeat and the dust has yet to settle. Chael Sonnen last his rematch against the UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 148 and the man thought to be next in line, Mark Munoz, had those dreams shattered by an elbow from Chris Weidman.
Today the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the UFC 148 salaries as well as handing down their medical suspensions to half of the fight card. The 11 bout fight card had a total reported salary of $1.438 million and rumored gate of a new UFC record $7 million for shows in the United States.
Silva/Sonnen, Ortiz/Griffin III, Cung Le/Patrick Cote etc. All the big boys step to the Octagon beginning for the UFC 148 main card at 7PM PST. If you can’t catch the fights on PPV on in person, you can catch the results here, as they happen.

The UFC 148 weigh-ins were one of, if not the most intense weigh-ins the UFC has ever had. Everyone knew the Anderson Silva / Chael Sonnen stare down was going to be insane but who knew that so many other stare downs would bring an intensity level so think you needed to cut it with a chain saw.
Let’s be honest, if you’re an MMA fan, tonight is like Christmas even circa you’re tenth birthday. It’s impossible to sit still, sleep at night and all you’re doing is counting the minutes until tomorrows UFC 148. Hey, there’s a lot going down tomorrow. Anderson Silva will finally get his hands on Chael Sonnen, and Chael will get the opportunity to prove he’s more than words. Not to mention Tito’s swan song and rubber match with Forrest Griffin.
