MAIN CARD (Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinals)
155 lbs.: Thiago Michel defeated Rene Nazare by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
- Michel showing his Muay Thai skills right away with his striking from the outside, forcing Nazare to shoot for defensive takedowns. Nazare does get Michel down late in round one and twice in round two, but couldn’t do much with them and entered the final round bloodied. Michel was content to fight on the outside in the final round, not being aggressive like the first two rounds. Nazare got another takedown and finished the final 90 seconds in top position.
155 lbs.: Brent Weedman defeated J.J. Ambrose by 2nd rd. Submission (Von Flue Choke)
- Weedman rocks Ambrose right away but didn’t pounce and actually got taken down and ended up in a bad place, defending submissions. Weedman rocked Ambrose again with an up kick and the fight in dominate fashion. Ambrose got a quick takedown in round two and went for a darce choke that was reversed and it was Weedman in top position. From there Weedman locked on a Von Flue choke for the submission win
155 lbs.: Rick Hawn defeated Ricardo Tirloni by 1st rd. TKO
- Hawn came out the aggressor and Tirloni was letting him. A big right hand from Hawn as Tirloni came in, dropped him to the canvas and a few hammerfists ended the fight. Hawn looked really good at 155 lbs.!
155 lbs.: Lloyd Woodard defeated Patricky Freire by 2nd rd Submission (Kimura)
- What a feverish opening round thee two put on complete with crazy striking, a little grappling and ground and pound. The craziness would continue with both fighters throwing wild punches all over the place. Believe it or not though, it was a submission that finished the fight….
