Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz Scheduled for UFC on FOX 3

| January 24, 2012 | 1 Reply

Just days before the second UFC on FOX event is set to take place in Chicago, the UFC has announced the first fight for the next event on Fox on May 5th. Lightweights Jim Miller and Nate Diaz will face off on the televised portion of the card, in an obvious fight on the night candidate.

Dana White announced the bout tonight via his twitter account, along with confirming the date. UFC on FOX 3 will take place at IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.

Jim Miller (21-3) fought on Friday’s UFC on FX card in the night’s main event against Melvin Guillard, rebounded from just his second loss inside the Octagon with an impressive submission. Miller had won seven fights in a row before losing in his title shot bid against Ben Henderson back in August. With his overall record and a 12-2 record in the UFC, Miller is one of the top lightweights in the world.

Nate Diaz (15-7) has looked impressive in his last two bouts since moving back down to lightweight. The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner completely dominated Donald Cerrone and Takanori Gomi with a newly refined striking attack to go along with his strong BJJ base.

With 12 fight night bonuses between the two the UFC has paired exciting top fighters working their way into title contention, a perfect fight for FOX.
