MFC 32: Bitter Rivals Live Results

| January 27, 2012 | Reply

Tonight the Maximum Fighting Championship will hold their first event of 2012 with MFC 32: Bitter Rivals from the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. The event will also mark the promotions final card inside a ring as starting with MFC 33 they will begin permanently using a cage. The event was to feature a lightweight title fight in the co-main event but another fighter missing weight changed those plans.

After coming in a disgraceful seven pounds over the lightweight limit, Antonio McKee was promptly stripped of his title and told he’d be released after his fight with Brian Cobb. I bold move from MFC owner / President Mark Pavelich but maybe fighters will take note and make-weight.

The show must go on and MFC 32: Bitter Rivals will air live on HDNet and for those without the channel, you can follow all the action right here.

MFC 32: Bitter Rivals Results:

Undercard (Not Televised)

170 lbs.: Brendan Kornberger defeated Allen Hope by 1st rd. TKO

155 lbs.: Matt Jelly defeated Garret Nybakken by Split Decision (29-28, 27-30, 29-27)

Televised Card:

155 lbs.: Dan Ring Defeats James Haddad by Majority Decision (29-27, 28-28, 29-27)

  • Haddad had a point deducted in the second round (illegal knee) but it didn’t matter as Ring got the nod from the judges.

170 lbs.: Jamie Toney defeated Kyle Jackson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

  • Toney dominated this fight and it was a shock that Jackson was still standing. Toney was very technical  but man can Jackson take a punch.

170 lbs.: Nathan Coy defeated Dhiego Lima by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

  • Coy took control of the fight early on and Lime had no answer and looked off his game. Coy handed Lima his first loss and earns a shot at the vacant welterweight title.

170 lbs.: Ryan McGillivray defeated Diego Bautista by 3rd rd. Submission (Armbar)

  • The best fight thus far, McGillivray was cut and bleeding all over the place but was likely in front on the scorecards. From his back in the final round, McGillivray slapped on a slick armbar that had Bautista tapping right away.

162 lbs.: Antonio McKee defeated Brian Cobb by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

  • McKee came out strong against Cobb and built a two round lead before fading and dropping the final round. Maybe it was a good thing that it wasn’t a five round title fight.

Main Event:

205 lbs.: Wilson Gouveia defeated Dwayne Lewis by 2nd rd. TKO

  • Gouveia opened well in round one but turned it on in round two with leg kicks that chopped Lewis down to the point he couldn’t stand. That made it easy to get the fight to the canvas where he was able to look for submissions and eventually pound him out.
