Anthony Johnson Fighting at Catch Weight yet Again

They say that the only thing things certain in life are death and taxes but they might have to add Anthony Johnson missing weight to that statement. Yes once again Anthony Johnson has missed weight, this time for his main event bout against David Branch for tonight’s Titan Fighting Championship 22.

Unlike the three times that he officially missed weight with the UFC, his new employer doesn’t seem too worried about it. TFC promoter Joe Kelly during an interview on Bloody Elbow Radio that Johnson and Branch had agreed, and signed a catch weight bout at 195 pounds. This is despite all the lead up heading into this fight, including just a week ago on “Inside MMA” as being a middleweight bout.

Johnson was signed by Titan back in March after being released by the UFC following his UFC 142 bout against Vitor Belfort in which he missing weight by a staggering 11 pounds. Belfort would agree to a catch weight bout and went on to submit Johnson in the first round. Oddly enough that was Johnson’s first fight at middleweight after previously fighting at welterweight inside the Octagon.

As the previous times Anthony Johnson has missed weight, the fight will still go on and he’ll face David Branch tonight at TFC 22 which takes place at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City and airs on HDNet. At some point though Anthony Johnson will need to receive more than a slap on the wrist for missing the contracted weight, but if being released from the biggest MMA promotion in the world hasn’t motivated him enough, what will?
