UFC 132 Cruz vs. Faber 2 Winners and Why!

The long trail of events has reached its end as Saturdays UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber will conclude the six consecutive weekends with a ZUFFA owned event. Having traveled to Vancouver, Dallas and Pittsburgh, they return to where they started on May 28th in Las Vegas.

The card for this holiday weekend event is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber. Cruz will be looking to retain his title while also avenging his lone lose, suffered at the hand of Faber over four years ago. Faber, who at the title was the featherweight champion, submitted Cruz in the first round.

The two other feature fights of the night are a middleweight scrap between Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben along with a light heavyweight clash between Tito Ortiz and Ryan Bader.

UFC 132 returns to the friendly confines of the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air on PPV as well as Spike TV and Facebook.

Preliminary Card (Facebook):

135 lbs.: Jeff Hougland vs. Donny Walker – Donny Walker

Two fighters making their UFC debuts so you really don’t know what you’re going to get here. Walker is coming in on a seven fight win streak and has fought the better talent, he takes the fight via Unanimous Decision.

155 lbs.: Anthony Njokuani vs. Andre Winner – Anthony Njokuani

This fight will remain standing until one fighter gets dropped to the canvas. The more dynamic striking of Njokuani will keep Winner off his game and land him his third consecutive loss.

185 lbs.: Aaron Simpson vs. Brad Tavares – Brad Tavares

Simpson tends to put himself in harm’s way in his fight, typically fighting the others fight. Tavares will take full advantage of this and drop Simpson standing, then finish him off on the ground for the TKO win.

135 lbs.: Brian Bowles vs. Takeya Mizugaki – Brian Bowles

After losing his bantamweight title to Dominick Cruz, Bowles has only fought once since March of 2010. He looked impressive in that lone bout and you can expect the same against Mizugaki who is just 3-3 under the ZUFFA banner.

Spike TV “Prelims” (Televised):

155 lbs.: Melvin Guillard vs. Shane Roller – Melvin Guillard

Striker vs. Grappler anyone? Both fighters on win steaks and will need to take the fight into the bread and butter to close the deal. Guillard will keep the fight standing long enough to land a big shot and get his 18th career TKO win.

155 lbs.: Rafael dos Anjos vs. George Sotiropoulos – George Sotiropoulos

Both fighters are BJJ black belts and this contest should play out on the ground, but it usually doesn’t. Whether on the ground and standing, this fight goes the distance and it will be Sotiropoulos getting his hand raised.

Main Card (PPV):

155 lbs.: Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman – Dennis Siver

Fight of the night candidate, as Siver will look to continue streak against the always game Wiman. Both fighters are well rounded but Siver does things a little better and will take a decision win.

170 lbs.: Carlos Condit vs. Dong Hyun Kim – Carlos Condit

The undefeated Kim (14-0-1. 1nc) has his hands full against the former WEC welterweight champion in Condit. Kim will get this fight down like he wants but Condit will submit the “Stun Gun” for his first lost.

205 lbs.: Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader – Ryan Bader

Bader is a mirror image of Ortiz in his prime, except that was like 10 years ago for Ortiz. Bader will take Ortiz down and easily out point the former UFC champion, handing him his final lose in the UFC.

185 lbs.: Wanderlei Silva vs. Chris Leben – Chris Leben

This two will stand in front of each other and bang until one of them lands a solid punch. The younger less beaten Leben will score the KO win over Silva.

Main Event:

135 lbs.: Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber – Urijah Faber

Cruz is looking for revenge against the only man to defeat in Faber but that’s not going to happen. Cruz will have the speed advantage but lacks the finishing power, something Faber has and will use it once again to defeat Cruz and become bantamweight champion.
